Former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, isn’t stopping for anything or anyone. Just two months after her documentary, Becoming, was released on Netflix, the 56-year-old mother of two, announced that she is launching the Michelle Obama Podcast with Spotify. The podcast market is booming, and the former First Lady is setting up shop and making her place in the market.
“Its’ been a tough year, and I hope this podcast can help us explore what we’re going through and spark new conversations with our loved ones,” Obama said in a social media video post. “I can’t wait for you all to listen.”
In the video accompanying the social media announcement, Obama explained that she’d be talking with family, friends and colleagues in the first season about the “relationships that makes us who we are” including “the challenges and joys of being a parent or spouse”, “the friendships that help us through the toughest times” and “the growth we experience when we lean on the colleagues and mentors around us”, she explained.
“My hope is that this podcast can be a place for us to sort through questions that we are all trying to answer,” Obama said. A place to open up and be a little vulnerable and have some fun along the way; and most importantly, I hope this podcast sparks ideas and topics that you can open up within your own circles.”
The Michelle Obama Podcast is set to air on Spotify on July 29.
