We Should Really Take Notes From Issa Rae

Issa Rae, the mastermind behind the HBO hit show, Insecure, and many others, has taught us to create our own tables rather than always seeking a seat at someone else’s.
Issa Rae just launched her new production company, Hoorae media company, which was shifted from her Issa Rae Productions. In addition to Issa Rae’s signature shows, Insecure and A Black Lady Sketch Show, Hoorae with will include Tre Cnt and the Seen & Heard docuseries for HBO, as well as Rap S**t for HBO Max, Perfect Strangers for Spyglass, Ghost in the Machine for Netflix, and the new Sinkhole with Monkeypaw and Universal.
Issa Rae got her start after she garnered attention for her Youtube web series The Misadventures of Awkard Black Girl. She continued to produce content for her YouTube channel, including various short films, web series and other content created by Black people and managed to garner over 23 million views and over 200,000 YouTube subscribers and counting.
Out of the many things that you can learn from Issa Rae and her work ethic, what resonates with me the most is that you already have everything you need to be successful.
“Nobody’s you. How you exploit that as a creative means so much.” -Issa Rae
